Nike, Adidas and Apple have been linked to the ensalvement and mistreatment of Chinese Muslims (Uighur people), with evidence of Uyghurs being bought and forced to work in these companies.

ABC news reports multinational corporations such as Nike, Adidas and Apple being linked to forced labour of Uyghur people. The report titled ‘Uyghur for Sale’ details evidence of Uyghurs being ‘bought’ and ‘sold’ by local governments. A shameful corporate sell-out that, in effect, commodifies a people with little to no accountability.

We call upon Nike, the Muslim ambassadors of Nike and other corporations to hold themselves accountable for the injustices taking place against the Uyghur population of East Turkestan.

We also call upon the Australian government to recognise China’s unacceptable mistreatment of Uyghur Muslims and the violation of basic human rights including the right to enjoy freedom of movement, the right to practice ones culture and religion freely.
