Global Coalition for Security & Democracy in Nigeria, GCSDN. started this petition to Nigerian Senate President Ahmed Lawan and

Why President-General Buhari must be impeached immediately.

1) Nigeria is bleeding on all sides as Nigerians continue to live in fear and danger. Now, it is clear that the country is not being governed.

2) Students are regularly kidnapped from their schools and ransoms are paid to further equip terrorists.

3) Cost of governance has become so high that it has left Nigerians poorer.

4) Nigeria has become the poverty capital of the world after selling oil for over 60 years.

5) Nigeria is now 3rd on the Terrorist index.

6) Groups have owed up to several killings but Buhari has refused to declare them as terrorist groups. This is institutionalized terrorism.

7) The government has failed to deliver on many campaign promises. This is a breach of social contract. The deceitful promises includes the provision of 20,000 mw of electricity by December 2019; Ban on government officials from travelling abroad for medical treatment; Creation of three million jobs per year; Building one of the fastest-growing emerging economies in the world with a real GDP growth averaging 10 per cent annually; Making naira stable at the international market; Consolidation of INEC to reduce and if possible, eliminate electoral malpractices in the country’s political space; Reforming and strengthening the justice system for efficient administration and dispensation of justice with the creation of special courts for accelerated hearing of corruption, drug trafficking, terrorism and ancillary cases; Building of at least one functioning airport in each of the 36 states; Ensuring that political officer holders earn salaries and emoluments as determined and approved by the Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal Commission (RMFAC); Upgrading all Federal Government-owned hospitals to world-class facilities within five years; The defeat of Boko Haram, etc.

8) There are terrorist-related officials in government while others have EFCC cases.

9) No accountability for the $1bn withdrawn from the excess crude oil account to buy equipment for our military.

10) The government promotes the padding of national budget when the funding for budget is being borrowed.

11) Uncontrolled borrowing with very little on ground to show for it.

12) Foreign terrorists are being integrated with tax payers money and issued with national identification numbers.

13) Buhari is unconcerned as our soldiers are regularly killed due to poor ammunitions.

14) Soldiers have been detained for complaining against poor working conditions.

15) Corruption, and nepotism are on unprecedented increase.

16) Buhari has failed to meet up with the primary purpose of government - provision of welfare and security.

17) Buhari spends huge national resources for medical tourism without declaring his illness and the full cost of treatment as sponsored from public treasury.

18) Buhari abandoned our refineries while patronizing and constructing a rail way to Niger Republic.

19) Buhari continue to enthrone nepotism with disregard to federal character and continuing disobedience to court orders.

20) Grounds for impeachment are based on gross misconduct as highlighted above and enshrined in Section 143 (1), 188 (1) of the Nigerian constitution.
