On a daily basis, Nigerian citizens lose their lives either to factors relating to health, age or accidents. Unfortunately, a surprising factor that aids to the demise of Nigerian citizens is the country's police force. It’s disheartening to think that our lives are being taken away by the people who we entrust to protect us, especially during a time when the country is expected to be more united than ever. Currently Nigerian citizens are exercising their right to protest against a unit of the Nigerian police force called SARS (Special Anti-Robbery Squad), and they are doing so peacefully, regardless of this tranquil approach, Nigerian citizens are still being harassed, beaten and even killed. We want to take action, and make sure that this stops as it is only right that Nigerian citizens can go about their day knowing that they will see tomorrow. We want to be able to go about protesting peacefully, knowing that we don’t have to be scared of the men in uniform, or worry about what will happen if we cross paths with a security personnel, we do not want to worry about making it back home safely after a protest, and we want to ensure that no one is left behind. We appeal to the Nigeria government to ensure that the safety of citizens is ensured, and also adequately punish security personnel who stray from their duties to protect the citizens of the country.
