The Nigeria society of Physiotherapy ( NSP ) is the umbrella body housing All trained Physiotherapists working in Nigeria. The headship in the academic sector is rotational among the qualified personnel and the progress, development and enlightenment it has brought to the profession can not be overemphasized. As it is said, no single man has monopoly of knowledge; the changes in headship ensures diversity of ideas and innovation. On the contrary, headship in the clinic is lifelong, monotonous and boring especially knowing that the carrier path and progression of many is in their power, alot of the HODs have become gods at their different departments, a situation that has bred hatred, lack of interest and passion to duty and constant antagonism. The sufferer in all of these is the Profession. I enjoin every member of this great profession to sign this petition with the intention of presenting it at the congress of the NSP for deliberation and adoption. The future of our profession is in our hands and the decision we make now will either bring us at par with our sister profession or we continue to regress in a speedy manner. I therefore want the regulatory body ( MRTB ) and the professional body ( NSP ) to look into this and ensure rotation in the headship among qualified personnel.
