The broadband speed and reliability in Copster Green is poor to say the least.  Openreach visit the area on a regular basis to temporarily fix connectivity issues.  Openreach are planning to roll out fibre to the premise (FTTP) by 2026 but we, as a community, cannot wait that long.  I would like you to sign my petition to try an get our local MP, Nigel Evans, to lobby the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport DCMS to change the area from urban to rural so that we can benefit from the governments voucher scheme and receive a contribution towards the cost of providing FTTP.  Working form home during the pandemic has been challenging for all but especially more so when we are relying on our broadband to deliver.

We have been classified as urban based on the Office for National Statistics (ONS).  Copster Green changes to 'Urban' from 'Village' in the rural classification document dated 2011.  This is based on the population of an area based on the Census taken in 2011.  It is not clear where the boundaries are or how the numbers are calculated.  Openreach did approach DCMS but they have refused to recategorise Copster Green.  If you look at a map of Copster Green it is clear that we are not an urban area and we should be recategorised to Village or Rural.  Please support this petition.
