UAL: Save Our Degree Show!

As a result of the COVID-19 outbreak in the UK, final year students across UAL are finding themselves in a position where the outcome of their degree is in jeopardy.

In addition to our denied access to workshops/facilities and with UAL switching to 'online teaching' we have been informed that our degree show will also go online. As artists, the opportunity to showcase our work to the public is a fundamental occasion that represents the last 3-4 years of our study and gives us the chance to establish relationships with industry. As a community of designers and artists, it is crucial that our work is exhibited to an audience - our work should be an experience, not just viewed through a computer screen.

Without this opportunity, we as students feel we are being enormously short-changed and believe that UAL should postpone the degree shows until a safer time, instead of canceling the events altogether and putting the shows online. We feel that the decision has been made without any consideration for our hard work and commitment as students.

With such incredibly uncertain times ahead of us we should, as a creative community stand together instead of becoming divided.
