Stop heartless deportation in New Fairfield Connecticut!
Joel Colindres is an immigrant from Guatemala, who fled drug violence thirteen years ago. He has an American wife, a home in Connecticut, a job he's held for 12 years, and no criminal record. And he has two small children, both born in America. But he's about to be torn away from all that because he missed a court date when he first arrived in the US because ICE got his name and address wrong. Joel is about to be deported even though he and his family have been fighting red tape for over a decade to get him citizenship. He now has to explain to his six year old boy Preston, and his two year old girl Lila, that their daddy won't be coming home, that the tree house he's been building for them may never be finished. He's terrified that he'll be kidnapped or killed on his return to Guatemala. As CNN puts it, "this is the face of deportation" in the Trump era.
Please help me stop Joel from being deported. This is a heartbreaking story of Trump-era immigration policies affecting American families, and being enforced without consideration of individual circumstances. Joel is not a threat to America; he's an immigrant that has made it better.
