We the people of Tarbolton have agreed that there should be a trail that leads from Burns house in Alloway towards Tarbolton (going past the bachelors club, heading through Failford to Mauchline.) you can go one of two ways. By hoods hill and willies mill towards Mauchline along the stretch of road turn right at the library and head back towards Failford into Tarbolton or you can go from Tarbolton along Schofield Road through the Montgomerie Woods (Formerly where Montgomerie house was) and that brings you out at the railway bridge at Failford. You could even incorporate the River Ayr Way into it.
We think this would encourage more people to go walks and therefore also increase the interest of our local history attracting more visitors.
There's a small sitting area situated on Cunningham Street Tarbolton that would be fitting to be the start of it and with parking only a two minute walk away it would make sense. You could also put noticeboards up telling people about how this place is associated with Burns and other historical facts about the area.
