Restrict Television Advertising of Betting and Gaming during G and PG Classification times

Please sign this Petition if you agree to EXTENDING THE RESTRICTION OF BETTING AND GAMING TV ADVERTISING TO PG CLASSIFICATION TIMES which is protecting Children up to the age of 15 years. This restriction shall be similar to that applying to the TV advertising of alcoholic drinks.

At present the TV Code of Practice restricts Betting Advertising on TV only during G Classification times (see below).

... the Rules for Commercials relating to Betting or Gambling and the Promotion of Odds  (during a Live Sporting Event) must not • be directed to Children;

The Commercial Television Industry Code of Practice (2010/ 2013)
Page 33 Commercials Relating to Betting or Gambling, Section 6.14: "Except for a commercial broadcast in a news, current affairs or sporting program", a commercial relating to betting or gambling must not be broadcast in G (AND PG) classification times. PLEASE ALSO REMOVE THIS EXCEPTION FOR SPORTING PROGRAMS DURING G (AND ADD "PG") TIMES.

PROPOSED RESTRICTION TIMES FOR TV BETTING AND GAMING ADVERTISING:     

GENERAL (G) CLASSIFICATION zones:
Weekdays 6.00am – 8.30am, 4.00pm – 7.00pm,
Weekends 6.00am – 10.00am ......... AND ADDING...

PARENTAL GUIDANCE recommended (PG) classification zones:
Weekdays (schooldays) 5.00am – 6.00am, 8.30am – 12.00 noon, 3.00pm – 4.00pm,
7.00pm – 8.30pm. Weekdays (school holidays) 5.00am – 6.00am, 8.30am – 4.00pm, 7.00pm – 8.30pm. Weekends 5.00am – 6.00am, 10.00am – 8.30pm.

...also applies to any part of a G or PG program that continues past
8.30pm, having started before that time.
