RI Medical Marijuana Program Needs Oversight, Additional Compassion Centers & Testing
This petition had 244 supporters
The Rhode Island Patient Association (RIPA) is a 501c3 non-profit organization started by patients for patients. RIPA exists to help patients by providing financial aid and education.
Please sign this petition and help convince our legislature that they need to do the following:
- Create an Oversight Committee to oversee the RI Medical Marijuana Program as mandated on page 13, lines 1-17 of The Edward O. Hawkins and Thomas C. Slater Medical Marijuana Act.
- Allow ONE - FOUR additional Compassion Centers to do business – that will provide affordable and adequate types and quantities of medication for patients. Patients would benefit from having a Compassion Center that had a price cap of $200 per ounce (not $400-$500 with current compassion centers) and provide a sliding scale for pricing based on a person’s income. Over 40% of RI's Medical Marijuana Patients fall below the federal poverty guidelines. Medical Cannabis is an expensive treatment option that is not allowed as a tax deduction nor is it covered by insurance.
- Make it Mandatory to Test Medicine - There needs to be legal mandates for Compassion Centers to test Medical Marijuana to ensure there are no pesticides, mold and that % are correct etc.
Thank you for helping us help patients.
