We are in great need of this strategy as I work on the front line of services and we are lost without it

A Sexual Health Promotion Strategy is essential in Northern Ireland. It is essential to educate everyone (young and old) about sexual health. Young people often are not taught the basic facts about sexual health and how to protect themselves. There are so many scary and untrue myths about HIV held by people who saw the public health campaign in the early 80's. This campaign was effective in the fact that almost everyone who saw it remembers it. Unfortunately though it has now left us with fear about HIV, this fear has mutated into a stigma which makes living with HIV very difficult in our society. A new and effective strategy could change public attitudes and enable us to significantly reduce the number of HIV diagnoses and within a few years if developed we could effectively reduce new cases of HIV to ZERO and wipe out the STIGMA.

With figures of HIV rising particularly among the 50+ age group, the NHS which is already under pressure, will be dealing with the cost of individual treatments of £380,000 sharply rising

I'm signing because we need to keep giving the appropriate messages to the public and those who serve them. Without this ongoing action someone will suffer and one is too many.
