Why this petition matters

My name is Shauna-Louise I am transgender male to female, I am living in Cornwall and I came out as Trans Female  in February 2017 I am currently going through transitioning to be able to correct my body with my mind so I got referred to the Laurels GIC in Exeter,Unitied Kingdom (Gender Identity Clinic in May 2017.

The Gender Clinic in Exeter through the NHS normally has an 18 week referral to treatment deadline to meet but in there current circumstances they are unable to meet this criteria as they are back logged with patients as far back to June 2016.

Intercom Trust, Safe Haven, Gender GP and many more LGBTQ companies are helping Transgender and Non-Binary people cope with the waiting times of Gender Clinics but there is only so much they can do to help, so I believe if we all come together and get enough people to sign this petition we should be able to get the NHS and Parliament to work together to help the Gender Clinics get more staffing in place to help LGBT people who struggle with Gender Dysphoria or/and self identification so that there is less suffering to LGBT people who self harm or commit suicide as I understand it can put a strain on The Community Mental Health Services.
