Sarah Seymour started this petition to NHS and

I’m June Macklin, I’m 75, a mum and grandmother. Like the majority of women my age it’s been around 20 years since my menopause and 10 years since my last smear test.
Last year I experienced some vaginal spotting & was treated for stage 2B cervical cancer with radiotherapy & chemotherapy and got the all clear in February 2021. During the summer I began to experience back pain and after investigation it was discovered that the cancer has returned and spread to my spine & lymph nodes, it can’t be cured and I am now receiving palliative care. I truly believe that if women were offered routine smear testing after the age of 64 my cancer could have been picked up at an earlier stage which would have led to a different outcome for me and my family. I never missed a smear test appointment when they were sent to me and would have gladly continued if this had been offered to me. Please sign and share this petition with everyone you know so we can try to get the Health Secretary & NHS to change the cut off age and save women’s lives. Cervical cancer numbers in young women has dropped massively due to the vaccination program, let’s try to do the same for our older ladies.
