Liv Powis started this petition to NHS

Over the past few weeks, I have had quite a fight on my hands to be able to get myself a flu jab, all because of the physical issues that a disability may cause, and I am trying my very best to make awareness of this in the hope that it might become easier for others in the future, as I would not wish this fight on anyone.

Cerebral Plays makes it very hard to keep still and not tense your muscles, and sometimes there is no explanation for this, other than the obvious. When booking a flu jab at my local doctors surgery, I was asked 'why it wasn't possible for me to keep still' in quite a rude manner, and that if I couldn't do so then I wouldn't be able to have the jab done there.

So it was onto plan B, booking a flu jab in another healthcare setting. All seemed to be going well as I was able to be seated when the jab was being done. But when trying to relax my arm ready for the jab, I was spoken to quite rudely, almost like a naughty child, to be told that 'if I don't keep still I was going to make the job harder', a very upsetting experience that left me shaken and once again questioning the wider world.

I will never expect people I don't know to understand the way that Cerebral Palsy affects me the way my loved ones do, but overall something MUST change, and I believe that this could happen through enhanced training courses surrounding disabilities.
