Emily Bower started this petition to NHS
After many visits to A&E during Covid I found that the front of house staff in the department were maybe not trained well in dealing with Autistic patients as every time I attended, I had to explain that even though I was over 18, I still needed my mum to stay with me to help while I was there. I felt very uncomfortable being asked this even though I was wearing my Sunflower lanyard.
I think if staff had some training on the many different types of Autism, this problem would be resolved and stop any Autistic patients feeling uncomfortable or upset whilst at the hospital.
I hope this petition helps people like me in the future and people without Autism understand our many different needs.
