Making Learning disability nurses compulsory in hospital settings

Making Learning disability nurses compulsory in hospital settings
Why this petition matters
In my job experience as a PA/Carer I have witnessed on several occasions of misunderstanding when an individual comes in to hospital with a Learning disability or physical disability.
I want to speak up for people that can’t do it for themselves!
On this one occasion mum & I took an individual to hospital due to her dual jej/ gastro tube balloon deflating we waited 7hrs to be seen as the hospital staff where unsure on who could treat her, as she is soon to be an adult, no one could make that decision due to costing issues they were discussing who was gonna treat her either paediatrics or adult services. Having to wait many hours this put this individual at massive risk of infection and also made her distressed, when doctors came to see her they where unsure on even how to treat her because of her complex needs.
I believe that Learning Disability Nurses should work in A&E and on the wards, not only to help the individuals involved have a smooth transition through their hospital experience but also to help educate the doctor’s and nurses that are unsure due to the complexly off an individuals needs. I believe through experience and actually witnessing this problem why it is so important to have a Learning Disability Nurse on the wards and in A&E
