Petitioning NHS Inner North West London PCTs Chief Executive Officer

Save Our Surgery (Kensington Place Surgery)

Kensington Place Surgery is the only GP practice in the Campden Ward and serves 5,300 patients.

Telling those 5,000 to find themselves a new GP, instead of ensuring that a replacement is created, goes against the very idea of the NHS; plus, it is unlikely that nearby practices will be able cope with the flood of several thousand new patients in any efficient way.
The Campden Ward needs at least one GP practice for it's 8,200 residents (2001 census figures).
Many of the patients in the practice are elderly, have lived in the borough for many years and they need continuity of care. Many are young mothers whose children also benefit from the familiarity of the relationsip established with someone you know treating you, an often daunting experience.

The cross section of patients in a borough that houses so many different and varied individuals and families is vast and from one of the patient's own experience when tenants in their house have changed address to another borough they have done everything within their power to stay with Kensington Place Surgery and deeply regretted not being able to do so.
Kensington Place Surgery is no ordinary surgery. The services they offer are extensive. The knock on effect of this change is extensive. The disruption it will cause have not been properly considered. The loss of jobs in today's climate and the effect this will have on the families of those employed in the surgery cannot be taken without exhausting every possibility to keep the surgery open. The remaining doctors are very willing and want to be given a chance to at least have their case heard regarding this possibility.
No matter what the circumstances are for Dr Bronsdon's decision to close the surgery so suddenly, she owns the building and selling it; there are other important considerations. There has been no consultation process. This may not be a legal requirement but considering the profession and the service that is at stake and considering the number of people affected by this, then surely it would be proper and right to have at least given more time and opportunity to find a solution not so inconsiderate.
