Until you live with a loved one who has type 1 diabetes you never know the daily struggle, daily battles and most Importantly the worry of what the future holds. When my 11 year old son was diagnosed in 2018 it felt like the world had come crashing down, so much to take in, to learn and so many different mixed emotions. Endless carb counting, finger pricking, the stubborn highs, worrying lows, it it never ends. You have to learn to live with this condition for your child and for yourself. It’s the hardest thing I have ever had to do but each day we become stronger, learn to cope a little better and we do not let diabetes control us, we control it. 

Some T1 children are granted the best equipment to manage their diabetes, however, some areas are not granted the equipment i.e, pumps, Dexcom CGM’s should be available to all T1 children to guarantee the best diabetes management possible.
