Mums are entitled to free dental care during their pregnancy and up to a year after there child is born, during the height of Covid it was near impossible to see a dentist and after the lockdowns ended there was a huge waiting list. I had my daughter in December 2021 I wasn’t able to see a dentist during my pregnancy and haven’t since due to the waiting list, I feel myself and many other mums have not been able to take advantage of free dental care we were entitled to, my child has just turned One and I wasn’t able to be seen by a dentist before my free care ran out. Your body changes a lot during pregnancy and your hormones can effect your gums and teeth, breastfeeding also can impact your bones including your teeth. I’m hoping this petition will allow for an extension on the free dental care for New mums.
