Currently women in the UK are only able to have a smear test done every 3 years, I am petitioning for this to be made available every year instead. 
As a lady that has had abnormal smears in the past and also had to undergo treatment for the removal of those cells, I do not think every 3 years is often enough. 
Once you have had an abnormal test and follow up observation or treatment, you then have a 6 month check up and if that is normal then it’s back to the standard 3 year test.
Last year 2019, I asked my doctor if it was possible to request an early smear as mine was not due until this year 2020 and was told no as it would be dismissed and not tested. If I wanted a test I would have to have it done privately, which would cost me £100+. This is money that a lot of people do not have, including myself.
A lot can happen in a year and cervical cells have been known to develop dramatically in a short space of time, therefore I think yearly testing would be far more beneficial and help to reduce cervical cancer deaths which could have been prevented if more regular testing was available.
