Pregnancy loss is sadly a fact of life - but we should not be allowing it to become a normalised fact of life when women choose to become pregnant again. Most women who go through this have some sort of high risk care in their next pregnancies which is great.

I struggle with the fact that most women have their final scan at 20 weeks yet some of the most serious conditions affecting mother and baby often don’t show until after this point.

One of these conditions is pre eclampsia and HELLP which I sadly experienced causing the stillbirth of our little girl at 26 weeks. It put my liver and organs into failure and I spent 36 hours in ITU and a further week in hospital. I am not the only one with these experiences and I feel really strongly that this extra monitoring COULD save babies lives and provide some well needed answers to stillbirths that lots of people never get.

If you or someone you know has experienced pregnancy loss or been through a dreadful experience please sign and we can see if we can be a force for change.
