Gary Bettman and the NHL Owners Association are not permitting the best players in the world to attend the Olympic Games and represent the citizens of their countries in the most important and entertaining sporting event in the world, one that occurs only every 4 years. This is a decision that is universally unpopular with hockey fans in Canada, the United States, and Europe, and the vast majority of players who will miss out on the opportunity to represent their country in the games. There is no reason for the decision other than to increase profits in an already profitable organization and improve Bettman's chances of continuing to be employed as a protector of the owners interests. It is proposed that the people who most appreciate the game, the fans who support it and provide the revenues to the owners, show their displeasure with this decision and encourage it's reversal by refusing to watch all televised NHL games, not purchasing game tickets, and if a season ticket holder, not purchasing food, alcohol or memorabilia, during the month of the games, being February 2018.
