We, the fans of the NHL, request YOUR help in a formal protest to be held during the first regular season game of the next season.

Opperation: #FirstPeriodProtest

Just when the National Hockey League was penetrating markets it had never dared to enter before, the lockout came around and has seriously killed any hopes of expansion that they had.

From new fans to local economies, the lockout has already done it's damage on it's already shaky infrastructure not only in the states, but in Canada as well.

The greed of the NHL/NHLPA is an absurdity to the sport that could have been worked out behind the scenes during a Gentleman's Agreement or during the ample time of the offseason.

WE, THE LOYAL FANS OF THE NHL, WILL DEMONSTRATE DURING THE FIRST REGULAR SEASON GAME OF THE POTENTIAL 2012-2013 SEASON OF THE NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE IN PROTEST OF THE ONGOING LOCKOUT BY SITTING OUT THE FIRST PERIOD.

This is not a boycott. Yes, some of us are season ticket holders. Yes, some of us receive tickets via promotions, gifts, etc. Sure, you might think that it'll be impossible to prevent fans form finally seeing a sport they miss.

If we, as fans, DO decide to attend, WE, THE FANS, WILL SIT OUT THE FIRST PERIOD OF THE FIRST REGULAR SEASON GAME OF THE NHL SEASON. We will come late. We'll enjoy dinner in the arena. We'll keep the concessionaires at work.

IF THE 2012-13 SEASON DOES NOT COME TO TERMS, OUR PROTEST WILL BE HELD ON THE FIRST REGULAR SEASON GAME OF THE 2013-2014 SEASON.

We have been embarrassed as hockey fans. Let the empty seats speak volumes. Without us fans, there is no NHL.

We will make sure they will always remember that.
