One day I was coming back home from an embarrassing 12-1 loss against the best team in our hockey league when something got me thinking.

 “Daddy? Why aren’t girls allowed to check?”

 It’s been over 2 years since I asked him this question, and it still haunts me. Why aren’t girls and women allowed to check in ice hockey? We can be as strong as men, and we should take advantage of that.
