"There Was A Stick"(棒が1本あったとさ) is a popular children's song in Japan.  It is used to learn how to hold a crayon or a pencil and draw.  This song is learned by all children in Japan.  We know it by heart.   What we don't know is that we also internalize a racist concept.  It is offensive to a black person.  If you follow the song, the end product is a dehumanizing black face.  You can see it on YouTube: https://youtu.be/AKKVKoU_LqM  This song was aired by NHK (National Broadcast) in 1964-1965, in their program, "Everyone's Song," and became popular nationwide.  NHK has the responsibility to recognize the damage this song creates.
