SO WHO IS THE REAL HERO? PEYTON MANNING, TOM BRADY, OR YOUR LOCAL VETERAN?

If you picked the veteran, then tell me why does he make 1% of what Peyton Manning and Tom Brady make?

Let me remind you of what just one individual wrote about veterans.

"The biggest sacrifices veterans have made for the county does not just happen on the battlefield.  They happen quietly, without fanfare, without recognition.  They happen in small homes and living rooms, with only those left behind as witnesses.  Everything a veteran must do is a sacrifice, from leaving behind their lives, to stepping onto the battlefield.  The sacrifice of time is just as important as the bravery shown in war, and oftentimes much more difficult.  These sacrifices are what make veterans special.

"Our nation's veterans pledge their lives to our defense, so that, in their absence, we can continue to live in freedom, and enjoy our time in life.  Veterans are separate from our everyday struggles.  They represent our country as a whole, people of every belief coming together and standing strong.

"They do not pledge themselves to us simply because it is their duty.  They have a deep-seated belief that this country is worth fighting for, and they volunteer to be the ones to step forward in its protection.  The patriotism in their hearts is what allows everyday life to continue unimpeded;  it is how they advance and do what they must for the good of the country as a whole, not just what they would want themselves.

Here is a Soldier's Creed

I am an American Soldier.
I am a Warrior and a member of a team.
I serve the people of the United States and live the Army Values.
I will always place the mission first.
I will never accept defeat.
I will never quit.
I will never leave a fallen comrade.

I am disciplined, physically and mentally tough, trained and proficient in my warrior tasks and drills.
I always maintain my arms, my equipment and myself.
I am an expert and I am a professional.
I stand ready to deploy, engage, and destroy the enemies of the United State of America in close combat.
I am a guardian of freedom and the American way of life.
I am an American Soldier.

Now that foregoing is a definition of a hero.  But what about Payton Manning and Tom Brady?  Lets compare.

Payton Manning has never served in the military.
Payton Manning has never placed his life before the life of others.
Payton Manning has never left his comfortable life at home to sleep on a dirt floor for months or even years on end.
Payton Manning has never left behind family and friends for years on end to defend the families of others.
Peyton Manning has never had to sacrifice anything.
Every morning Peyton Manning takes a warm shower to wake him up.  A soldier goes weeks without running water.
Peyton Manning gets injured and calls it a day.  A soldier gets hit with a bullet and he continues on without wavering.
Peyton Manning eats the best foods and meals day in and day out.  A soldier often doesn't get to eat today.
Peyton Manning's housekeeper makes his bed and washes his clothes.  A soldier wears the same things for weeks.
Peyton Manning goes to a barber shop to get his hair cut.  A soldier is luck to have time to brush his teeth.
Peyton Manning gets to call his wife everyday, maybe five times a day.  A soldier waits for the mail to see if there is a letter from home.

So what about Tom Brady?

Tom Brady has never served in the military.
Tom Brady has never placed his life before the life of others.
Tom Brady has never left his comfortable life at home to sleep on a dirt floor for months or even years on end.
Tom Brady has never left behind family and friends for years on end to defend the families of others.
Tom Brady has never had to sacrifice anything.
Every morning Tom Brady takes a warm shower to wake him up. A soldier goes weeks without running water.
Tom Brady gets injured and calls it a day. A soldier gets hit with a bullet and he continues on without wavering.
Tom Brady eats the best foods and meals day in and day out. A soldier often doesn't get to eat today.
Tom Brady's housekeeper makes his bed and washes his clothes. A soldier wears the same things for weeks.
Tom Brady goes to a barber shop to get his hair cut. A soldier is luck to have time to brush his teeth.
Tom Brady gets to call his wife everyday, maybe five times a day. A soldier waits for the mail to see if there is a letter from home.

AND ... because of men line Payton Manning and Tom Brady, most Americans -- including Veterans -- can not even afford tickets to any of the games.

So why is Peyton Manning and Tom Brady making $10 million a year, and a soldier is barely making $12,000 a year?

Gentleman:  I will not ever watch a game on television, nor on the radio nor every buy a ticket until such time that teams give at least 75% of their gross profits to programs specifically dedicated to helping Veterans live better lives.  Moreover, I will not ever watch a game on television, nor listen to one on the radio nor every buy a ticket until such time that the salaries of players are reduced by 75% of those monies are used to increase the salaries of our soldiers.

That is being a true American.
