For those unaware, to commemorate the NFL's 100th season they're releasing a list of the all time greatest players at each position. The Baltimore Ravens Kicker, Justin Tucker, the most accurate placekicker in History, was snubbed from this list.

Four kickers were nominated. Adam Vinatieri, Lou Groza, Morten Andersen, and Jan Stenereud. Of those four, Stenereud is the sore thumb. He has a career kicking percentage of 66.8 as opposed to Tucker's 90.4. He was elected First team all pro once to Justin Tucker's 3 times in a far shorter career. He's missed 21 extra points to Tucker's 2. Justin Tucker's career long is 6 yards longer than Stenereud's.

It's obvious to any observer that the statistics prove Tucker has been better than Stenereud. In the spirit of transparency, Stenereud played far longer than Tucker has, with an 18 year career as opposed to Tucker's ongoing 8 year career. It has to be asked though, is it fair to judge kickers on longevity? So what if someone kicks for 12 years or 10? Where is the line? Justin Tucker could retire tomorrow as the greatest of all time statistically.

As a final note, two of the games greatest coaches right now, and certainly the two greatest special teams coaches, John Harbaugh and Bill Bellichick (the most successful coach and greatest since Paul Brown.) Have called Justin Tucker the greatest in his position just this year.

It's extremely disrespectful to one of the greatest talents in the NFL, and if the NFL doesn't rectify it, it raises questions about the validity and competence of the committee and the whole concept.
