"Weird Al" Yankovic should headline the Halftime Show for Super Bowl 54 - lets make this happen, people!
"Weird Al" Yankovic is a national - nay, an INTERNATIONAL - treasure, and should, without question, be the headliner for the Super Bowl 54 Halftime show.
On February 2nd, 2020, who would be better to entertain the world (or at least, the US pretending that this is a global event) than Sir Weird Al Yankovic. A few reasons, in no particular order, why the NFL should book this sweet gem of an entertainer for the Super Bowl:
- Family Friendly: Families watch the Super Bowl together, and sometimes the halftime show can get just a little too sexy (we're looking at you, Adam Levine's nipples). A show from Weird Al is guaranteed to be something the entire family can enjoy, without worrying about the strange emotions the performers might be stirring in your pre-teens.
- Cameos from Huge Stars: The potential cameos and collaborators during the Halftime show are endless - from the subjects of his parodies - Madonna, Lorde, Pharrell, Dave Grohl, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Lady Gaga, etc. - to his video collaborators - Donny Osmond, Jack Black, Patton Oswalt - the string of stars popping up during the show would be amazing.
- Weird Al Brings the Funny: As painful as it is to admit, the Halftime Show is often a bit of a snooze fest. "Weird Al" is going to bring the funny, and make the show watchable.
- Finally, Weird Al is huge! Weird Al is a recent Billboard #1 artist, and has millions of fans embedded across multiple generations. Weird Al long ago cross from novelty act, into a mainstream cultural icon.
In the words of another American comedy legend, Homer Simpson - "He who is tired of Weird Al is tired of life."
"Weird Al" Yankovic. Super Bowl 54. Let's make this happen.
