This petition is set in place to demand that the NFL and Roger Goodell place Colin Kaepernick on a team or compensate him for lost wages do to them blackballing his career.

Last year the world was given a rude awakening when the media began to show through social media and modern technology the horrors and assaults on the black community by the hands of the police all across the country. As a result of these unavoidable and harsh realities being broadcast for the world to see, one man took a stand figuratively by choosing to kneel during the national anthem, this man is Colin Kaepernick. Now because of his bravery displayed to bring the nation’s attention to the plight of black community, he is being “blackballed” by the NFL. They are flat out refusing to give him a position on any team even though he is more than qualified.

Even other players have acknowledged the obvious bias. Brandon Marshall stated “Quarterbacks are usually the face of the franchise. So, he’s probably being blackballed. Maybe part of it is owners don’t want their franchise tagged with that. But I still stand by what I said (on Twitter), that he’s the best quarterback in free agency. He’s better than all of those that got signed, the Matt Barkleys, the Nick Foleses. I think that’s a fair assessment, honestly. Some guys have done worse, DUIs, domestic violence, and they still got opportunities, you know? Kaep didn’t break any laws and so that’s why I don’t understand."

Kaepernick's bravery inspired a number of other players and athletes including; Eric Reid, Jeremy Lane, Robert Quinn, Kenny Britt, Martellus Bennett, Devin McCourty,  Megan Rapinoe, Gabby Douglas and more.

With the evidence given it’s hard to see this situation as anything other than blatant racism and disregard for the African American struggle in America. This behavior displayed by the NFL speaks in volumes by making an example out of Kaepernick, they are stating non-verbally that any NFL player who chooses to stand up for what they believe in or stand up for the rights of their brethren is to be condemned by the entire NFL and therefore go without employment and/or pay. They are making a statement and making an example out of Kaepernick. This must stop now! We must show the NFL and the world that we the people choose to stand together on this issue and stand with Kaepernick like he stood with us. We will not leave Colin Kaepernick to bare this burden alone.

People of color often complain that people with large platforms such as celebrities and athletes do not use said platforms to bring attention to important civil rights issues that affect us all. Well Colin Kaepernick took that chance and put his life and career on the line for you... now what will you do to show your gratitude? Just think if no one stands up and speaks on this topic, if no one takes a stand against the bias being blatantly displayed by the NFL, if no one shows them we will not tolerate this and our lives DO matter, then why would any other celebrity or athlete ever stand up or speak up again? Think about it. Why would anyone risk their lively hood for people who won’t do the same for them. And no one has to risk anything in order to support Colin Kaepernick and further the discussion of racism in America, all you have to do is sign today. Make a statement, leave your mark on history, and be a part of real change! After all if there is anything we can learn from Colin Kaepernick, it’s if you won’t stand for something... at least kneel.

"I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder. This stand wasn’t for me. This is because I’m seeing things happen to people that don’t have a voice, people that don’t have a platform to talk and have their voices heard, and effect change. So I’m in the position where I can do that and I’m going to do that for people that can’t."
