Odessa Heavyrunner started this petition to News station KOB4

Laura Hanish social worker for 24 years, and daughter Shanta Hanish age 19 were victims of a double homicide. Suspect is ex boyfriend to Shanta, he is still awaiting trial. This occurred in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Local news station KOB4 not only published the police lapel video which blurred out portions of mothers and daughters gruesome remains, they also did not pronounce Shanta’s name right throughout the whole video. Not only were their gruesome and tragic circumstances exploited for media attention, the news station didn’t even consult family or friends on the pronunciation of Shanta’s name.

My girlfriend and her friends were Shanta’s childhood best friends, I’ve personally seen the photo albums of them together as children, all the way through high school. KOB4 verbally agreed to take the video off their website via phone call in the summer of 2019. They have not done that. They continue to leave the video up that disrespectfully represents the mother and daughters remains, and the incorrect pronunciation of Shanta’s name.

For reference, KOB4 is the only local Albuquerque news station that incorrectly mispronounced Shanta’s name, they are also the only news station that posted the lapel video of the crime scene. Shanta and Laura’s 2 year anniversary is coming up Summer of 2021, and I would like to bring some closure to my girlfriend and her friends, because they still struggle with this on a daily basis. For two years these girls have had to watch their best friends remains be publicized and displayed for all to see on this news station and listen to this news station disrespect Shanta’s memory by not caring enough to fix the pronunciation of her name. I hope together we can bring these girls some closure, and some peace finally by removing this video.
