As many people in Pittsburgh and across the country know, Wendy Bell was removed from KDKA Radio’s program lineup purportedly for saying that protestors who destroy statues should be “shot on sight.”  Anyone who is smart should know that that comment was not meant to be taken literally.  The whole point of a talk radio station is to educate listeners on all sides of a debate.  This can’t be any truer when Wendy Bell over and over again spoke critically about how COVID 19 was being handled by Governor Wolf.  

If the real reason she was removed had to do with the comment about shooting protestors who were damage statues or other property, the worst that should have happened was a reprimand, as it was, at most, an honest mistake.

If it was her conservative views, then the radio station needs to either reinstate her or stop claiming that they “take very seriously our responsibility to provide a platform for our communities to engage in diverse and meaningful dialogue, debate and the right to freedom of speech.”

We, the undersigned, strongly urge KDKA to add Wendy Bell back to her lineup.  By removing her, the radio station to the public about how open they are to different people’s views being conveyed on their station.  It is time for KDKA to serve the purpose a talk radio station is meant to serve:  to educate the public on all sides of every debate.
