Removal of David Stewart, Mayor, City of Newport Arkansas

Removal of David Stewart, Mayor, City of Newport Arkansas
Why this petition matters

Dear Senator Caldwell,
Today I had an unfortunate experience with City of Newport Mayor, David Stewart. My mother Linda F. McKinney has dealt with a flooding problem here in Newport for the past 15 yrs. With the negligence produced by the city not keeping our ditches cleaned, drains cleaned and simply doing their jobs the end result has been massive flooding.
Sadly enough the lower income communities are the worst hit. The result of the flooding problem produce savage street conditions, unsanitary/unsafe conditions for the children in the lower income community's which raise concern because the children in the community are beginning to think these conditions are acceptable. The Mayor had the nerve to attempt to close the door to the main office in my face today. I chose better judgement by asking to speak with him, after that unfortunate event, then he told me from his mouth "There is nothing I could do, should do, or will do."
Mr. Senator - I am a retired military of the United States Army Forces. What I experienced today from an elected official should not be accepted, especially from someone that honorably served and placed his/her life on the line so that he, the Mayor can live free. I contacted the City Council, KAIT-8 News, KATV-7 and Seven on your Side to assist in bringing light on this situation. Can your office bring some resolve to this?
Removing the seated Mayor and brining someone in who cares about the community and most importantly our children will allow our small town to grow and become a united front. Please help!
