May 1st 2015 a man drove into pearl lake ending his life creating a tragedy in our town.

Since than no barricades or any signs to make the area a little safer have been put into place.

August 6th 2021 a tragedy again hit our beloved town a man and 2 children have been recovered from the lake following their vehicle going in just like the first incident occurred. 

Im unsure of any other incidents that may have resulted in anymore tragedies in this very area.  I can't help but wonder if these outcomes would be different if there was more safety measures in place. The area isn't completely barricaded around anymore and I just feel it's alot more unsafe than usual and this should be fixed. I originally thought placing stronger barricades or guard rails would be a solution but after getting some feed back someone had an even better idea. In honour of the victims and to make a difference we think ultimately having the area restored back into land, a park and be able to plant trees would be the best thing our town needs! 

This petition is to try and make a safer place in our town, many had no idea this area was so deep until the first accident occurred. Now knowing this the area should be restored it only seems right after such events have unfolded.

Mental health also plays a huge factor here to but I wouldn't want to see another accident happen here it being intentional or not because it's along side a high way and you can easily end up in there.
