Hello. My name is TiAta Rogers, and I live in the small, rural town of Newkirk, OK. I am trying to convince the City of Newkirk to change their animal ordinance to allow mini pigs as pets. A bit of background: Recently, it came to the attention of animal control that we had 3 mini pigs. I was issued 3 tickets and told to get rid of my babies. I made the very difficult decision to rehome my 2 outside piggies. They are a bonded pair of siblings, and they went to a wonderful home together. My remaining mini, PeeWee, is a different story. The other 2 pigs never accepted her as part of their "herd." Her bond to myself and my husband is very strong. We have had her since she was 4 weeks old. She lives in the house, uses a litter box, and goes outside to root and play.We desperately want Newkirk to modify the ordinance, so that we can keep her. She is a part of our family, and I know that her removal would not only devastate my family, but it would break her heart. Please sign this petition to show your support of changing the city ordinance in Newkirk, OK to allow mini pigs as pets.
