Passing Lanes on Veterans Memorial Highway

On September 11th, 2017 the Veterans Memorial Highway in CBN claimed 3 more lives. Three more people that didn’t get to go home to their families at the end of the day. For anyone who travels this highway on a regular basis, you know the dangers it presents.
As a tax paying resident of Newfoundland Labrador, I rely on and travel this highway daily to go to work and provide for my family. I no longer feel safe doing so. It is the responsibility of the Government of Newfoundland Labrador to ensure our highways are safe for the residents of this Province. Passing lanes are desperately needed along this highway, yet the Provincial Government insists there isn’t enough traffic on the highway to justify the investment. I strongly disagree!
There are travelers on that highway that speed excessively in good and bad weather conditions and some that go too slow, even when road conditions are ideal! This frustrates drivers and causes them to make poor decisions and pass in areas where it isn’t safe to do so. I drive that highway at a speed of 100 km/hr when conditions allow, and still, there are vehicles that come that close behind me, that I am nearly driven off the highway.
It isn't acceptable! I am begging the Newfoundland Labrador Government to take a stand with us in helping to make the Veterans Memorial Highway safe for those that rely on it daily! We all want to go home to those we love at the end of each day. Thank you for your support.
