PETITION TO MAKE CLAREMONT AVENUE PARK AN UNLEASHED DOG AREA
0 have signed. Let’s get to 1,000!
Many of you are already aware that the council has erected signs at the Claremont Ave dog park prohibiting dogs to be allowed in the park off leash. While this park was never technically a ‘dog park’ the community has used it for this purpose for many years.
During recent discussions with numerous dog owners at the park and in the community it is clear that we are not the only people who feel it is a driver to reduce the strong community spirit that has been built as a result of this park. We strongly urge the council to re-consider allowing this great space to be a park utilised by the whole community, including those who have come to love exercising their dogs off leash. While we understand that not everyone feels the same way as we do about dogs I am a firm believer that everyone in the community can share the space in harmony.
Ultimately we’d love to see this space available to unleashed dogs at all times however as we understand there may need to be compromise to achieve a positive outcome we’d be willing to negotiate some minor changes to achieve an amicable outcome. In this case we have proposed to council that they allow unleashed dogs to be in the park between nominated hours.
This is one of a few places where we can exercise our furry friends, so if you'd love to help keep this space the way it was please sign... Any comments would be much appreciated as these will also be emailed to Newcastle Council. Thank you!
