Return the National 7s to Queenstown

The National 7s competition in Queenstown used to be a highlight on the rugby calendar for many.
Players and fans alike loved the tournament to a point where it became a sellout event.
And in it's prime, the NZRU inexplicably made the decision to move the event to Rotorua where it received a less than lukewarm reception from the public to say the least.
It was clear for all to see that the tournament had become a commercial failure.
Each year it was played in front of a near empty stadium and we could all see that the heart and soul of this once vibrant and colourful competition had disappeared with it's relocation.
The NZRU have now made the decision to move the tournament nearby to Tauranga for the next 3 years where there is next to no business case that it will perform any better in regards to fan participation.
We implore the NZRU to return the National 7s to Queenstown where many would welcome it back with open arms.
If not for the next tournament then after the event fails to spark interest in Tauranga in it's first year.
The North Island has the Lions share of All Blacks Tests, International Sevens, Lions Tests, Maori All Blacks Tests and more.
It's time for the NZRU to show a bit more love to the South Island.
