Mandatory and Explicit labelling of Palm Oil in products

Mandatory and Explicit labelling of Palm Oil in products
Why this petition matters
In New Zealand companies are still legally able to label Palm Oil under other names, most commonly these names can be "Vegetable Oil" and "Palmate". For a more extensive list you can visit https://www.aucklandzoo.co.nz/get-involved/palm-oil.
The goal of this petition is to enforce all companies and manufacturers, not only in the food industry but also in cosmetic, household etc. products to clearly label Palm Oil for what it is on all products that it is an ingredient for. This loophole that allows these companies to deceive buyers and the New Zealand public is unethical and underhanded. We as consumers and contributors to the economy should have the right to know what ingredients are in the products on our shelves, with clear labelling. It goes without saying that the production of Palm Oil is one of the leading causes of significant deforestation and endangered species habitat loss, among many other harmful effects on the environment. Please sign this petition so that we can make New Zealand shelves a more ethical and transparent place for shoppers to make more conscious consumer choices.
