Luke Cotton started this petition to New zealand labour government
For over 50 years, West Papuans have faced human rights injustices such as unlawful imprisonment, torture, exile, rape and death at the hands of the Indonesian military. The excessive use of violence and force by the Indonesian military is growing every year. It is estimated that 100,000-500,000 West Papuans have been killed since 1964. New Zealand’s ongoing silence on this human rights issue is concerning and unacceptable. We urge the incumbent Labour Government to change their policy of non-interventionism in West Papua and publicly address the breach of human rights to West Papuans. New Zealand should not support the violent treatment of West Papuans by the Indonesian military.
