Stop Bob Jones Now!

What will it take for action to be taken against Bob Jones?

1) We want the New Zealand Herald to ditch Bob Jones as a columnist.

2) We want the New Zealand Police to investigate Bob Jones for counselling a man to commit suicide, and

3) If it is found he has acted illegally we want him stripped of his knighthood.

During the time of public focus on the Roast Busters crisis Bob Jones made victim blaming comments that rape was a risk for those who "don't act sensibly". He is notorious for cruel, thoughtless, sexist comments and The Herald has continued to give them air. However recently Bob Jones gloated in a column about encouraging a vulnerable man to commit suicide and being delighted when he did.

According to the Crimes Act 1961 everyone is liable to an imprisonment for a term not exceeding 14 years who incites, counsels, or procures any person to commit suicide, if that person commits or attempts to commit suicide in consequence thereof.

So why is Bob Jones still a knight? Why has Bob Jones not been charged? And Why has Bob Jones remained a New Zealand Herald columnist?

We want Bob Jones to be stopped now. Just because he is rich and prominent it doesn't mean he ought to get away with breaking laws. Please sign this petition to take action against a man who has been given a platform for too long and has used his position of authority to harm others.
