John Key, Prime Minister of New Zealand: Stop the closure of Auckland’s 24/7 sexual violence crisis service
WE HAVE A WIN!
Dec 16, 2011 — Congratulations to all who jumped to support Auckland's 24/7 Crisis line!
The service is saved from closure! They have 6 months emergency funding and a commitment to a long term solution (let's bloody hold them to that!)
Statement from the service:
Early this afternoon Auckland Sexual Abuse Help received confirmation from the Government of the following: “Agencies have committed to continuing funding for Auckland Sexual Abuse HELP for the first six months of 2012. Agencies are collectively committed to a process working with Auckland Sexual Abuse HELP over the next six months to ensure a sustainable service for the future.”
We would like to thank everyone who came forward in support, with overwhelming numbers of people from throughout Aotearoa. This validates the importance of being able to provide a 24/7 service to survivors of sexual violence. We have been humbled and encouraged in continuing to serve the greater Auckland population in the work we do.
