Without community spread, health care has more capacity to handle other diseases, injuries, surgeries, diagnostics,... no delays or hold back due to Covid. Patients and health care professionals deserve it. A Covid free society is much safer for vulnerable children, immunocompromised persons, elderly, people who can not be vaccinated or with low immune response to the vaccine, everyone. Participation instead of shielding. Endemic Covid will hit already marginalized and vulnerable communities, e.g. in poor housing, especially hard. Strong efforts are needed to reach hard-to-reach communities and engage them with alert level rules and vaccination. Delta has been contained by other countries, China, Taiwan, with determination and perseverance. Other countries and territories, e.g. in Asia-Pacific, hold on to ZeroCovid. Stop the spread ! We can do this! Aotearoa New Zealand should continue to be role model and gold standard in managing the pandemic, being a safe haven in the storm. Together alert level 1 and freedoms can be won back.
