Hamilton East MP Jamie Strange campaigned to reopen community police stations in the 2017 general election and so far the stations have not reopened. We need to put pressure on our local MPs in government to get back on the campaign trail to reopen the police stations.

Community police on the ground in neighbourhoods will increase the opportunity to build strong relationships especially with our young people growing up in our city. Over the past month 23 youth have been arrested from burglaries, unlawfully taking vehicles and aggravated robbery. We also need to find out why these youth are up to no good and put them in the right direction through rehabilitation once they have gone through the justice system and suffered the consequences for their actions. 

Bringing back community police is a piece of the puzzle to reduce crime in our city, it's not going to be the silver bullet, but a step in the right direction. If you agree that we need community police back in our city feel free to sign and share.
