I'm signing this because I have a relative in the prison system and I know that they do not receive proper medical care --(we are lied to when we read about what our prison system provides to inmates.) They truly have to fight to get the least little bit of medical care, especially mental heal treatment.

Inmates returning to society should be afforded every opportunity to have healthy, productive lives. It's our moral obligation.

I Agree. These people have health issues that, in some cases, wouldn't have be caught had they not been in jail. Treatment for these issue, especially any Mental Health Issues, should Continue after the person is released from Prison/Jail. How are these people going to become part of society again, if they are denied the health care they have been receiving & chance are will end up right back in Jail/Prison because they couldn't work & make a living for theseselves, due to illness not treated.

At least a third of prison inmates are estimated to have psychiatric disorders. In addition, I'm aware of others with traumatic brain Injuries. Many have been homeless and will be returned to the stressor of the streets. There will very likely be unable to get jobs or apartments given felony convictions. Providing them with transitional health care services will help to prevent recidivism and to maintain gains made in prison addiction treatment programs.

Even if you have punitive views of convict/former prisoners, you have to want to reduce their chances of returning to crime to get drugs or 'act out' due to a mental breakdown. A lot of mentally ill and addicted people end up in jail, and it makes sense that not providing care for those problems will all but guarantee another jail/prison sentence. What a waste - of a human life and of public funds.

I do support this. Not sure if it's too late since the budget was passed yesterday.
