Eliminating the 99 Pound weight class would take away the opportunity for at least 700 kids to wrestle, driving away more kids from a sport that is seemingly dwindling in the numbers of its players. Even if they are on the team in a "practice only capacity" this effect would still happen. We practice to play. And the kids should play.
I used to be a 99 pound wrestler for Calhoun High School. If the weight class did not exist I would have been swayed to join another sport since I, along other wrestlers, was a multi-sport athlete throughout my high school career.
