Weekday-only Town Hall Meetings in NYC

New York City is home to 1.1 million Jews, of which many are religious and represent a political force within the city and the state. As of this writing, there are 7 town hall meetings scheduled for this month, and 3 are being done on Saturday, a day of rest for the Jews inside their districts.
By holding town halls on Shabbat, religious Jews are unable to attend and have their voices heard. After being done so often and so long, even after being warned, we are left with the conclusion that they are doing this on purpose. It would be one thing if this were a district in Alabama, but this is a diverse city and districts as much as 25-30% Jewish. That's a lot of people unable to have a voice in the political process.
So as not to silence the voice of the Jewish voters, I petition the city of New York to mandate town hall meetings, by elected politicians, to only take place on weekdays. The congressmen holding these weekend events are Congresswoman Nydia Velasquez, Congressman Joseph Crowley, and Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney.
Any congressperson that wishes to hear the opinions of their constituents should, out of respect, hold events on days that are most convenient to their constituents. By holding these townhalls on Saturday, they are effectively silencing a large portion of their electorate from participating in the political process.
