Student Loan forgiveness for health care workers working in the front line of the COVID19 pandemic putting themselves at risk to care for our communities is necessary and long overdue. Student Loan forgiveness will alleviate the financial burden that Doctors, Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists and all who are saddled by insurmountable amount of student debt in the pursue of a career in healthcare to provide service to their communities have accrued.  During this pandemic their sacrifice and selflessness is even more apparent and should be appreciated.  Student Loan forgiveness will enable economic growth within our communities once New York State is no longer on pause. Let’s ask the US government along with NY State government to take steps and enact laws that will guarantee loan forgiveness for all health care workers who have put themselves at risk especially during this global pandemic.  Standing ovations are laudable and admirable yet a conversation about our thankfulness has to include student loan forgiveness.
