Religious tolerance is a necessary part of today's society, however, it is not prevalent. Many people are discriminated against based on religion and culture which was highlighted in the 2016 presidential election. This intolerance can be the basis for crimes and social injustices, which stems from ignorance and apathy. By spreading tolerance, discrimination can be reduced and respect can be developed for groups that are targets of discrimination.
Tolerance can be spread by educating people about the different religions. Extremists do not represent the entire religion. Laws such as the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution can be established to promote tolerance by emphasizing the criminality of discrimination based on religion and culture. People are still welcome to express their opinions, but actions based on those opinions will result in a crime.
Our mission is to preserve the peace in our world and provide knowledge of other cultures to better ourselves as human beings by enforcing the articles in the United Nations' Declarations on Religious Intolerance with a special police force through this petition.
I would like to pose this petition to the current president of the UN General Assembly Mr. Peter Thomson so that this issue may be addressed.
