The New York State Education Department has recently decided to change its guidelines for teacher certification testing for the student teaching class of 2020. They want student teachers to go to the testing center to take the required certification test, risking the health of thousands of students and their family members, many who have pre-existing conditions and are at a higher risk of becoming ill from Covid 19. This is an unnecessary decision that must be changed to protect the health of all New Yorkers.
