On September 18, 1984, Orville Rickman (ID# 85A7234) and an accomplice burglarized a neighbor's apartment and murdered 15-year-old Scott Alexander McRae when he walked in on them. Rickman beat down the teen and set a fire which resulted in Scott's death, rendered his family homeless, and devastated the community.
When Rickman committed these crimes, law enforcement was pursuing him for violation of probation. Bragging to other teens in the neighborhood about what he had done, Rickman was subsequently arrested and convicted of murder in the second degree, two counts of burglary in the first degree, arson in the second degree and sentenced to life for those crimes. He was first considered for parole after serving 27 years and has now served 34 years of that life sentence. He is given the privilege of appear before the New York State Division of Parole every 18 months to two years to request release as long as he remains incarcerated.
We the undersigned are STRONGLY OPPOSED to parole for Orville Rickman. Justice demands Rickman serve the full prison sentence for these heinous crimes. We STRONGLY BELIEVE that Orville Rickman continues to pose a threat to our community and society at large.
